Wellness Conditioning

 

What is Physio Wellness Conditioning™?

Wellness Conditioning is a clinically informed, evidence-based, functionally-directed, application of therapeutic exercise and bodywork interventions, provided by a licensed physical therapist, with a background in clinical and performance exercise physiology. Wellness Conditioning is provided for individuals without a formal diagnosis for physical therapy, however they seek to improve their comprehensive state of physical conditioning.

Programs are implemented to:

  • Maximize physiological functional capacity (cardio-respiratory efficiency & endurance)
  • Optimize engagement of/participation in functional activities of daily living (such as occupational responsibilities, ascending/descending stairs carrying groceries, home care, personal care, child care, elder care, gardening, recreational social activities) AND moderate-to-moderately vigorous recreational activities (recreational walks, recreational social activities) without undue physiological and physical structure strain during activity and expedient recovery following vigorous activities (5K run, 10-mile bicycle ride)
  • Address the components of Physical Wellness
    • Cardio-Respiratory Endurance
    • Functional Muscular Strength & Endurance
    • Functional Joint Range of Motion & Muscle Flexibility
    • Dynamic Balance
    • Core/Peripheral Segment Stabilization
    • Postural Alignment
    • Biomechanical (Movement Pattern) Efficiency



Assessment (2.5 hours)

Comprehensive clinically informed initital assessment including:

  • Medical & Health History
  • Cardio-Respiratory Functional Capacity Assessment (VO2)
  • Resting Metabolic Rate/Basal Metabolic Rate (RMR/BMR) Assessment with Total Metabolic Rate (TMR) Estimation
  • Musculoskeletal Structural Assessment
    • Postural Alignment
    • Functional Joint Range of Motion & Muscle Flexibility
  • Neuromuscular Assessment
    • Functional Strength & Endurance
    • Dynamic Balance
    • Core/Peripheral Segment Stabilization
    • Proprioception & Agility Coordination
    • Movement Pattern - Biomechanical Efficiency
      • Identify biases to unresolved chronic conditions, muscular weakness/imbalance, and/or postural malalignment that influence inefficient movement patterns that adversely contribute to a repetitive cycle

 

** Where indicated, evidence-based outcome measures are implemented to establish baseline status and direct the progression of the client's functional goals.

Interventions (1.0 hour sessions)

Wellness Conditioning Packages range from 5 to 50 sessions. Each session includes specific interventions developed to accomplish the clients functional goals.
