What Should I Wear ? ?

Proper Attire Guidelines

Recommended Attire:

  1. Sports/Recreational or Running Shorts: Ideal length @ approximately mid-thigh. (Longer shorts discouraged)
  2. T-shirt or tank top: Ideal length 1 to 2 inches below waist (Oversized or tight fitting shirts discouraged)
  3. Sneakers or Vibram Five-Finger type footwear

NOT Recommended:

  • Long Shorts with length of Waist-to-Knee or longer shorts are HIGHLY DISCOURAGED.
  • “LONG shorts” will not permit efficient observation of the lower extremity during gait evaluation and therapeutic and training interventions.
  • “LONG shorts” may alter biomechanics of certain therapeutic exercise interventions and encourage inefficient movement patterns contributing to less than optimal rehabilitation or training outcome.
  • "LONG shorts" may not accommodate optimum access to the hip joint and muscles of upper leg (the thigh and groin area) for manual therapy interventions and they may restrict effective range of motion.
  • Running Tights are HIGHLY DISCOURAGED for evaluations and follow-up sessions.
  • High Heel Shoes

Necessity for Proper Attire:

Comprehensive analysis and treatment requires observation of body structures including the upper extremities & torso, lower back/pelvic region, hip & gluteal region, lower extremities {upper leg (thigh – front, back, side & groin), knee, lower leg (front [“Shin”], back[Calf]}, ankle and feet.

Manual therapy techniques for injury rehabilitation, prevention, and wellness, require appropriate access to the same body structures.

To facilitate the maximum efficiency of each evaluation or treatment session, proper attire is imperative.

Attire worn for evaluation & follow-up sessions should permit optimum range of motion with regard to the therapeutic and training interventions prescribed.

Inappropriate attire may decrease the effective progress of the session, hence we request that each client adhere to the guidelines for proper attire.
